Love your app, I've had it since it was only a test release. I have an issue and a question tho. After putting in the cars data and adjusting the Top Speed Target slider the 1st and 2nd gear ratios come out with the same number. Is this for five gear tranny's or am I doing something wrong? If I skip the 2nd gear result and put in the 3rd gear result for the 2nd gear the gearing is nice and smooth. Not a huge problem but something I've wanted to figure out. Thanks for a great app.

Anthony,

I am a huge fan of this app and it has saved me a lot of time getting a base tune on a car that I can tweak from there. However I do have a couple of feature requests:

1) Ability to save a tune to reference later. I have a lot of cars and I share tunes with other people a lot. It would be great to take the values that FT has generated and then mirror any adjustments made in the game from that point and also save it off on the device for reference later (SQLite Database maybe?) I don't know how some people use the app, however I have found myself talking with someof the people that I race with about car tunes and the ability to pull up a tune that I have in the game would be awesome.

2) iPad version: The extra screen real-estate in the iPad could really highlight some more advanced functionality (and the request mentioned above) I can provide a mockup of what I am envisioning if it helps. I would hope that the app would be a universal build however :-p

I agreed fully with Eric's suggestions. I would add...

It could help to see the aero considered for gearing since this is a direct impact on top speed.

Also, the main gear setting never seems to change. Why is this?

Let me start off by saying I love your app. I have a huge garage and using your app has saved me a lot of time versus using the flash-based or spreadsheet tuners to tune my 200+ cars. I haven't had a chance to try out the gear tuner but it seems to make sense. I do have a couple of suggestions, however:

"Enter Data" page-
Sliders are somewhat useless, remove to save space?
Don't know if it's possible but on the keypad when you are inputting a number it would be nice to have a "next" button that takes you to the next box.

"Get Tune" page-
All the data from this page should be able to fit on a single, non-scrolling page, making it a bit easier to use. This is the biggest one for me and I imagine it would be easy to change.

Thanks a bunch for such a useful app and keep updating!

I will make an announcement to everyone but let me reply here too: some cars have very low peak torque rpms. This can create some insane numbers if the redline is high. I am recommending that you try to keep the torque rpm no more than 3500 rpm below the redline.

That fifth sentence made me laugh I didn't have the heart to correct it...

Anyway, if you want to max fifth gear out to the track's top speed just slide the target control until the speed to the right of fifth gear is what you want. I tried to leave the freedom to tune/tweak like this. Tuning out gears may work out well for many folks.

They should work for all 6-speed racing transmissions...if the torque rpm is very low or it is a seven speed there may be some tweaking necessary...
