UPDATE: ForzaTune Premiere Coding Complete, in Testing Phase

07 Oct 2009
by Anthony Curtis

ForzaTune Premiere, the full-featured version of the iPhone suspension calculator is now in final testing and should be submitted to the app store this week!  Thanks to everyone for the feedback emails and support–I didn’t expect ForzaTune Lite to be downloaded as much as it has!

The Premiere version will include aerodynamic compensation, brake and differential settings in addition to a much better interface.  That’s all I will say for now!   This latest version took a good amount of time to make…what do you think is a fair price?  Take 7 seconds and add your answer in the comments…

  • KiZ on October 8, 2009 at 12:22 pm

My suggestion is to please make an Android, Java Midlet or at least a PC version!

    Not everyone uses iPhones :)

  • Rick on October 8, 2009 at 9:26 pm

If you are planning to upgrade this to support forza 3 for free then I would pay 1.99 – 4.99 for it.

    @KiZ: I gotta start somewhere! :)

@Rick: I really appreciate the feedback. Yes, the plan is to upgrade it once the mechanics of the new physics engine in Forza Motorsport 3 are figured out. It would be an update to the ForzaTune Premiere version (free if already purchased earlier).

  • Jon p on October 9, 2009 at 11:58 pm

I think what Rick said was fair I wouldn’t go over 3.99 though. I think 1.99 is a good price and I would buy it for sure at that price. But in the end you are the developer and if you think the time it took to make this app costs more then do it

  • Chris Pinchbeck on October 11, 2009 at 12:29 pm

I think £1.45 would a good price. Will it work on forza 3? Great app!!!!

  • Ryan on October 12, 2009 at 5:56 pm

    Great news!
    1.99 sounds reasonable to me.

  • Tom on October 12, 2009 at 7:25 pm

I hate the scroll bars. Please add a keyboard in the full version.

    • Anthony Curtis
Anthony Curtis on October 13, 2009 at 1:29 am

Don’t worry, the version currently under review by Apple has a keyboard! I appreciate the feedback from everyone on this.

  • Hunter on October 13, 2009 at 12:50 am

Please for the Love of all things holy do away with the sliders, it’s near impossible to get the exact number I’m trying to slide it to, other than that I look forward to what you come up with. Also, are you going to put adjustments in like “increase corner entry oversteer” etc. like on croisened.com? It would be awesome as well.

Anthony Curtis on October 13, 2009 at 1:31 am

(See comment above–keyboard is coming very soon!)

Tweaking the tune like on some of the online calcs will be in the next update or two. My other goal will be to get the app tested against Forza 3 and make it sure it still works well.

  • Jon p on October 15, 2009 at 12:37 am

Hey if you ever need beta testers just let me know

  • Cash on October 15, 2009 at 11:44 pm

.99$ SALE ! That is the best price but considering the not so big potential customer base Id say go with 1.99$ .

  • David on October 17, 2009 at 9:51 pm

I say you should sell it for $0.99 or$1.99. Are you guys thinking about puting a tune for drifting? If you do you can sell it for more.

  • Chris on October 18, 2009 at 11:58 pm

I woul happily pay 2 to 3 bucks for the premiere edition, maybe a little more depending on content, love the lite version, hurry up already with new edition, I agree with everyone else on how to make it better, please don’t forget diff locking rates, that would rock!

  • Mike on October 19, 2009 at 8:54 am

Any news on release date yet? Forza 3 here Friday oh yeah!
I’d gladly pay £3 for this app if it does as much as I’m hoping it’s well worth that! Roll on Friday lol

  • Steve on October 19, 2009 at 3:41 pm

Glad to see pro is about out and that you will be looking at Forza 3. Keep up the awesome work! Mind if I put a decal for Forzatune on my intake cars? Wanna help spread the word! :)

Anthony Curtis on October 19, 2009 at 11:09 pm

Hey Steve, thanks for the support and I would love to see a decal on some in-game cars! The most important thing would be that it is capital ‘F’, capital ‘T’, with no space. And of course a little ‘TM’ since it is a trademark. The other option would just be ‘forzatune.com’ by itself (no caps). Again, I really appreciate your help spreading the word.

And if you have any screenshots/pics I would be happy to post them here! Huge thanks.

  • Bryan on October 19, 2009 at 4:35 pm

Any idea when the app will finally be available in the app store?

  • Anthony Curtis
Anthony Curtis on October 19, 2009 at 11:26 pm

It usually takes Apple about 2 weeks to approve an app. So I am crossing my fingers for next Monday (10/26). I apologize to the users in other countries getting FM3 this week. (we still have to do some testing for FM3–not sure how it will react yet)

@Chris: yes, differential rates are in this version too.

@David: drifting tunes would be a great idea for future updates. thanks

  • Mike on October 20, 2009 at 12:16 am

Will be adding forzatune to my live bio later. Will also give a car decal a whirl.

  • Paul on October 20, 2009 at 5:04 pm

I would be happy to pay £5 for a Forza 3 version. It would at least give you a good starting point.

  • bagel eater on October 21, 2009 at 12:56 am

I’d pay $3USD for it for sure if it had all the settings that Forza 3 had, if possible perhaps charge $0.99 for the users that are upgrading and $3 for the users that are first installing it. If that is an option *shrugs* I guess you could have a sale price then ‘jack it up’ a few days later :-D.

Thank you for making this app!

  • vondy1 on October 21, 2009 at 9:37 am

Thanks for the Lite version, great help to me and looking forward to the Premium!
Is it possible to ask for Metric units, I use Metric and I find it tiresome to convert the units each time. Would be amazing to see it come in, would help the European players alot :)

    Great stuff!

  • johnny caloway on October 21, 2009 at 10:15 am

should make a version that is for sale on xbox live that’s like the version on the iPhone so you don’t have to keep looking at your phone every two seconds.

  • Ferry on October 23, 2009 at 7:56 am

Think the price is perfect. But got 1 question. Is there a plan to add a transmittion calulator for this app too?

And what Vondy1 says. Metric system would be a nice add-on.

Not at this time. I will add that to the list of suggestions though

  • Dave on October 26, 2009 at 5:38 pm

I finally tried out the lite app last night and it gave me a good head start on tuning some cars. Cannot wait to try out the full version. And yes this does work with 3.

    • Anthony Curtis
Anthony Curtis on October 27, 2009 at 1:00 am

Thanks Dave! Full version is up–you’ll definitely like the extra features and pending FM3 updates (minor at this point–still works well in current form for FM3).

  • Ninezeronin3 on October 30, 2009 at 8:23 am

First of all congratulations for your work! I was wondering if by any chance you could include a template where you can select a specific track and the results of the tune calculations would be optimized for that specific track. Another thing i think would be useful for begginers it would be a kind of minitutorial explaining how the different settings of tuning affects the driving in Forza 3. Another thing (and this is personal request ) that would be appreciated is if you can select if you are playing with a steering wheel or a controller. This last sugestion/request comes from my personal experience, i often end up making different tunes for the same track and car, one for controller and one for steering wheel because the input whit the controller use to be more agressive than the input from the steering wheel.

    Thank you very much!!

Thanks Ninezeronin3…I added your suggestions to the “official list”.
